Club Update – July Recap and August Highlights

July was another great month for the Stateline Woodturners! We’ve had some generous donations and a very successful beginner’s turning class, with 12 participants in attendance. The class not only helped introduce new turners to the craft but also raised a significant amount of money for the club — thank you to everyone who contributed to its success.

TheBring Backprogram remains a hit. If you were the lucky winner of July’s Bring Back, don’t forget to bring something for August’s drawing!

A special thank you goes out to Ron East for donating his Elvis pens — a real highlight and greatly appreciated by all.

The club thrives when we all contribute, so let’s keep that momentum going strong!

President’s Challenge

For August, the challenge is to create something inspired byPaul Moore’s June demonstration. Please show us your best take on asalt boxand let Paul know his demo sparked creativity! We’re excited to see how many unique and innovative designs our members come up with.

August Demonstration: Tips & Tricks

This month’s demonstration will focus onTips and Tricks— practical ideas and clever solutions to help improve your turning techniques. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, there's sure to be something for everyone.

Looking ahead, theSeptember President’s Challengewill be to create a turning demonstration that showcases how you’ve applied the concepts learned from the Tips & Tricks demo.

Fellow Woodturners,

July marked an important financial milestone for our club. Our Certificate of Deposit (CD) reached its maturity, and $5,382.22 has been transferred into the club’s checking account, bringing our current balance to$10,516.11.

A heartfeltthank you to the late Gary Olerud, whose generous $5,000 donation helped establish that CD. His gift continues to benefit our club years later, and we are deeply grateful for his legacy.

Looking forward,Dave Morris has introduced a new estate donation plan, including complimentary updates to your will if needed. Please consider includingStateline Woodturnersin your estate planning to help secure the club’s future.

As of today,30 members have contributedthe $30 supplemental support payment for this fiscal year. These contributions will sustain club operations throughSeptember 2025, the end of our current fiscal year.

If you haven't yet contributed, please consider doing so. Your support is vital, especially as we are just two months away from a new fiscal year. Every contribution makes a difference and helps keep our club strong and growing.

Thank you for being part of this amazing community.

A heads-up on our dues

At our May meeting, members discussed the club’s financial situation and future needs. Following this discussion, a motion was passed to increase our annual membership dues to $100 starting next year.

Additionally, a one-time contribution of $30 was approved for all members this year to help support ongoing expenses. For cash payments, please see our treasurer, Joe. For credit card payments, log in to the club website.

We understand that financial challenges happen. If this increase creates a burden for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any board member. We want everyone to feel welcome and supported.
