Stateline Woodturners
December, 2008 Meeting
December Meeting

The December club meeting was very well attended, including a number of guests. Ed Wiley, one of our earliest members, came
up from Clarksville with his niece. He invited the club to his shop for a field trip meeting. We will work out the details and keep you
posted on this event.

Harold Stoner provided the Treasurer’s report, and mentioned that after all expenses, Andi Wolfe’s visit cost the club about $800.
We discussed the fact that all future national demos will include a charge for the Saturday demo to all attendees to defray the
costs. In addition, the club is looking at buying a new club lathe, and we have filed for an AAW grant to help pay for the lathe. The
grants are awarded sometime in March and April. Stay tuned for this development.

The Show and Tell was very well represented this month – apparently everyone got to spend time turning during December. The
Safety Tip of the Month had two participants, Harold Stoner and Dave Strickland. We learned what not to do with a table saw, and
we were warned of the dangers of alcohol fumes and a propane heater.

Harold Stoner won the $5 auction, a beautiful piece by Jerry Crowe.

The Cunningham Award, for the best turner of the year, was voted to Harold Stoner. The Chris Ost award, also called the
President’s Award, was given to Mark Ost for his ongoing contributions to the club.

Dave Strickland gave a very informative demo on hollowing, including a discussion of the many tools that can be used.

See you all on 4th Saturday!
