Stateline Woodturners
December, 2008
Newsletter
Hi Everyone,

For those of you who missed Andi Wolfe, we had a great time! The Saturday demo included 11
members of the Central Arkansas Woodturners from Hot Springs and Little Rock . The demo
was very informative, and included woodturning, woodburning and carving. The hands on
classes were very much about the secondary decoration of the woodturned object to open up
the avenues of artistic expression. Excellent!

Fourth Saturday at Mark Ost’s continues to be well attended, with mini demos of all kinds. Kip
did a baby rattle with captive rings; Doug Hyde did inlaid designs in a hollow vessel; Kurt Bird
did a demo of fundamentals of the lathe and roughing; Almeta Robertson showed some
possibilities in hollow vessel work. All were well attended with a lot of interest from the group.
Remember that if there is a demo you would like to see, just let us know, and we will make sure
it happens.

This is a reminder that Saturday is the Club Christmas Party. It is being hosted this year by
Jennifer and Harold Stoner at their home in LaRue. Contact Kurt Bird or Harold Stoner if you
need directions. Time is 3 to 7 PM, $10 per person for the food and beverages. There will be a
turned gift exchange for anyone bringing one, unwrapped. The culinary skills of Jim King and
Kurt Bird will be featured. We look forward to seeing you there!

The December club meeting will be held on the 13th, at the Jones Center . The $5 auction will
be for a piece turned by Jerry Crowe; the demo will be by David Strickland. We will also vote
for Turner of the Year! Please remember that the 2009 dues are due at this meeting. Please try
to have your dues to Harold on time.

Hope to see you all very soon,

Kurt
