Our September 8th meeting featured Kip Powers. Kip discussed and demonstrated the
techniques for finishing the feet (bottoms) of pieces. There was quite a bit of interaction
between Kip and the members present at the meeting. Pictures of the activities and show and

The 4th Saturday meeting at Mark Ost’s shop was a potpourri of turning activities. Dee
Schroeder held a hands-on class in winged bowl turning, Arthur Dull showed everyone how to
turn long desk pens, and Mick Hutchinson demonstrated turning a segmented top. Pictures

This Saturday and Sunday (October 6th & 7th), we will have a table and a demo lathe at the
Northwest Arkansas Woodcarvers show at the Bentonville High School. If you have a piece
that you would like to display, please bring it to the Bentonville High School at 1901 SE J
Street after 5:00 on Friday evening, or Saturday morning, and you might win a prize! Stick
around, and we’ll put you to work turning tops or whatever.

We will hold Officer/Board Member elections at our October meeting, in accordance with our
By-Laws. Your Board has identified the following individuals as nominees for the indicated
positions. We solicit and encourage additional nominations from the members at the meeting.
The identified nominees have agreed to serve, if elected. Any additional nominations should
have the consent of the nominee. The following are the nominees:
