October, 2014 Meeting
Our October, 2014 meeting was held at our regular meeting location in the Jones Center in
Springdale.
This was our "Annual" meeting. Officers and Board members for the coming year were
elected at this meeting. The officers and Board members for 2014-2015 are as follows:
President-Ron East
Vice President-Michael Guidry
Secretary/Treasurer-Roy Keeler
Progrm Chairman-Les Brandt
Board Members-Jim King, Gary Olerud, Bob Anastasi, Paul Moore
Advanced Turner award winner was Arthur Duell. Novice Turner Award winner was Ron
East.
Our annual Christmas Party will be held on December 13 at the Prairie Creek Community
Center.
A motion was passed to spend $150 in the name of Mark Ost, and $150 in the name of
Harold Stoner to purchase training DVD's for the club.
A motion was passed to allow the Board to determine the fee to charge for members and
non-members for saturday demonstrations for visiting turners.
A motion was passed to change the "Bring Back Raffle" to charge $5 for one ticket in lieu of
the current practice of $1/ticket, or 6 for $5. The rationale being that the vast majority of the
members buy 6 tickets for $5, and "pass" if one of their ticket numbers is selected after
having won already. Also, very few, if any, members just buy one ticket.
Anyone interested in taking a CPR class should contact Thermon Crocker.
Our demonstrator was Gary Olerud. Gary demonstrated turning very small vessels. Pictures
of his demo are shown below.
