Our August 11th meeting featured Wayne Furr of Norman, Oklahoma as guest turner.
Wayne turned a Christmas Angel ornament of a size suitable for hanging on a Christmas
tree. Pictures of the activities and show and tell items can be viewed on our website at
“www.statelinewoodturners.com” on the August Meeting page.

The 4th Saturday meeting at Mark Ost’s shop was a potpourri of turning activities. Dee
Schroeder held a hands-on class for novice bowl turners. Other members provided one-
on-one instruction for various turning activities.

On August 24th and 25th, we participated in the annual “Frisco Days” activities in
downtown Rogers. We had a booth in front of “Poor Richards” art shop in the middle of
the activities. Members demonstrated turning on one of the club JET mini lathes, and
gave away many turned tops to the interested bystanders. Several individuals expressed
an interest in our club and activities, and were provided with information about our club,
meeting locations and times.

Our program for the September 8th meeting will feature Bill Koch and Kip Powers
providing instruction on finishing, and design of the feet (bottoms) of pieces.

Don’t forget to bring your “Show and Tell” pieces to the meeting to share with others.

After the regular meeting on Saturday, we will continue with our turning classes for the
public in our meeting room at the Jones Center. It will be from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Any
and all who would like to help out with the classes or cleanup are welcomed!!

See you on the 8th!
