July, 2009 Meeting
The July meeting was very well attended, and we are filling the room more and more as time goes by. We will
continue to move the tables to the side and just use the chairs as a result.
We have contacted Jamie Donalson for the Spring turning demonstration. The date will be February 13th for
the club demo, with Sunday and Monday for the hands-on classes. Jamie should be a very good
demonstrator, and he was a professional photographer before retiring, so he should be able to offer his
expertise on that topic also. We are looking forward to his visit.
Kip and Mick volunteered to put on a demo for the Washington County Public Library group on the 22nd.
There are photos posted on the website of the demo. Thanks, Kip and Mick for volunteering.
Our visiting demonstrator was John Thompson, from NEOWTA in Tulsa. John (and Harold Stoner) took
Johannes Michelson's class on turning hats, and John demonstrated how to turn a mini hat. It turned out
very well, and John was kind enough to donate it to the club for our raffle. Thanks, John!
The quality and range of the pieces in Show and Tell continues to grow. Please remember that everyone in
the club was a beginner at some point, so don't feel that your piece will be judged adversely-bring your
pieces in and let's talk about them!
