April, 2009 Meeting
Our April meeting was extended in time for those who chose to join the after-lunch session with our guest
turner Matt Keim. Matt joined us from St. Louis to demonstrate surface embellishing techniques, and thin
walled bowl turning.
Prior to Matt's demonstrations, we had a relatively short business meeting, during which we voted on a
proposed change to our By-Laws. The proposed change would have required approval by the general
membership for club expenditures exceeding $500 rather than the current practice of allowing the Board of
Directors to approve such expenditures. The proposed change was voted down.
The demonstrations provided by Matt were well done, and well received by the membership. Of particular
interest was the surface embellishment technique using the "Lancelot" rotary carver in an angle grinder to
carve the outside surface of a large bowl.
Remember, next month we will meet at Ed Willy's shop in Clarksville.
See you all at 4th Saturday!!
