4th Saturday at Mark Ost’s was again threatened with inclement weather,
but was well attended none the less. We had a busy morning.
The highlight of the meeting was a demonstration, by Tom Gilge, of his
laser engraving setup. Tom primarily uses the system to engrave pens and
pencils, but it is also used for making plaques and other flatwork. It is
capable of engraving on most materials, with the exception of unfinished
Dee provided mentoring in the area of bowl turning, while Doug Hyde
demonstrated his expertise in turning tops. Mark Ost also demonstrated
small spindle turning techniques.
