|February, 2011 4th Saturday
We held our 4th Saturday activities at Mark Ost's shop on February 26, 2011.
Wow, what a turn out!!! We had 34 members at our February activities.
Leo Hapeman demonstrated his awesome (and expensive) elliptical chuck adaptor. He
turned a bowl and lid, and invited others to try their hand at the lathe.
Kip Powers demonstrated rough turning a bowl out of green wood, and descibed the
drying process using paper bags. He then final turned a dry rough turning, showing
how to mount the bowl to turn the foot.
Doug Hyde demonstrated turning a goblet. He is able to turn one of these small goblets
in about 15 minutes!
Ron East presented Maggie Gorishek with the annual Chris Ost award for her
contributions to the club over the past year.
Mark Ost demonstrated hand chased threading and machine threading.
Harold Stoner demonstrated wood burning.
Photos of the activities, courtesy of Mark Ost, are shown below.
