Stateline Woodturners
February, 2007

The January meeting featured our own Mike Rodda demonstrating turning a candle stick
in the style of Rude Osolnik. Mike provided handouts giving step-by-step directions on
completing the project. He also gave us all a good lesson on use of the roughing gouge
to provide a fine finish.

The “Advanced Turner” award was won by Harold Stoner. Harold consistently turns out
beautiful work!

This month’s meeting will feature a “show and tell” session with the members bringing
their favorite jigs/fixtures/tools to share their ideas and experiences with the other
members. The items can be “home made”, purchased, borrowed, pilfered, or whatever!
Each member is encouraged to bring up to three items for display and/or discussion. A
ballot will be held at the end of the meeting to determine the “best of show”. The prize, to
be awarded at the March meeting, is a $25 gift certificate. This is not in lieu of our regular
“show and tell” of members turnings, so bring your latest turnings to share with the
other members also.

The Woodturning Center traveling exhibit “Connections, International Turning
Exchange, 1995-2005” will be at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, open to the
public, from 2/9/07 to 2/25/07 and 3/7/07 to 3/25/07.

Another reminder, we are still collecting turned toy items for that project. Ray Weddell
would really appreciate some help in providing these items to Andy Hilton for
distribution.

For those who have not heard the disturbing news, David Morris’ father passed away
Friday, 2 February. He and his family would appreciate keeping them in your thoughts
and prayers.

See you on Saturday, the 10th!
