Stateline Woodturners
February, 2012 Meeting
Our February, 2012 meeting had a great turnout, in spite of the colder than normal weather for
this part of the country...about 10 degrees F!

We were glad to have our club president back after his recent surgery! Kip Powers and Jim King
presented a check, in the amount of $800, to the Jones center last month. This represented our
annual contribution to the Jone Center for the past year. Their policy regarding rent free use of
their facilities has changed, and after this year, we will be charged $40 per day of use for the use
of our meeting room. This will amount to $440 per year, which is less than our annual donation.
We anticipate augmenting the rental charge with a donation next year. The trust, which funds the
center, has not realized as much income as in the past, due to the current low investment returns
experienced in the "market".

Our demonstrator for February was Paul Moore. Paul demonstrated turning a bowl with a wide,
square flange. He turned this  piece out of walnut that he recovered from the Bentonville landfill.
Paul indicated that this landfill has been a prime source for his raw material over the past few
years.

Paul returned items from our display at the Rogers Activity Center, and collected new items for
the display.

Our show and tell offerings continue to show a wide variety of materials and techniques. This
month's show and tell items are shown below.

Roy Keeler won the award for the best "Novice Turner", and Russ Merkel won the award for the
best "Advanced Turner".

See you at 4th Saturday!
